Terms of Use
Last updated: 16 October 2026
By downloading or using QuakeScope ("the app") you agree to these terms. The app is provided by Webgrup, Türkiye ("we", "us"). If you do not agree, do not use the app.
License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on your devices for lawful personal purposes. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer or resell the app, scrape or overload our servers, or try to bypass limits such as the test-notification limit, except where the law allows it.
Not an Early Warning System and Not an Official Agency
QuakeScope is not an earthquake early warning system and is not a government or official agency. It collects information published by other organizations after an earthquake has been detected. Automatic first estimates can be wrong or change; notifications can be late, fail or never arrive (for example because of the network, your phone settings, Apple's service or the source's own delay). Information may be incomplete or inaccurate.
For decisions about your life, health or property, follow official sources such as AFAD, USGS and your local authorities, and obey their instructions. In an emergency, call your local emergency number. Do not rely on this app as your only source of warning.
Tsunami Messages
Tsunami messages in the app are a relay of official bulletins from the NOAA/NWS Pacific and National Tsunami Warning Centers and from GDACS. We do not issue, assess or change them. The absence of a message does not mean there is no danger: many tsunamis are local and arrive before any bulletin. If you are near the coast and feel strong or long shaking, move to high ground without waiting for a notification.
Free, Ad-Supported App
QuakeScope is free and supported by banner advertising from Google AdMob on the quake list and preparation screens. There are no in-app purchases or subscriptions. The Privacy Policy explains how ads and data are handled.
Information Only
Preparation guides and checklists are general public information, written by us from commonly published guidance. They do not replace instructions from your local authorities or professional advice, and they cannot cover every situation. Distances, magnitudes, depths, times, impact numbers and the "notifications in 30 days" estimate are approximate.
Your Responsibilities
Keep notifications enabled and check your phone settings (Focus modes, quiet hours, Low Power Mode) if you want to receive alerts. Do not use the app for unlawful purposes or to spread false alarms. "I'm safe" messages are sent by you through the system share sheet; you are responsible for them.
Data Sources, Credits and Licenses
Earthquake data: EMSC (CC BY 4.0) and USGS. Tsunami messages: NOAA/NWS Tsunami Warning Centers and GDACS. Fault lines: GEM Global Active Faults Database (Styron and Pagani, CC BY-SA 4.0); the simplified fault layer used in the app is also shared under CC BY-SA 4.0. Place names: GeoNames (CC BY 4.0). Country boundaries: Natural Earth. These organizations do not endorse QuakeScope and we are not affiliated with them. Their data keeps their own terms.
Third-Party Services
The app relies on services from Apple (notifications, App Attest, maps), Google (AdMob) and Cloudflare. Their terms and privacy policies apply to their services. We are not responsible for their availability.
Apple Additional Terms (iOS)
If you use the iOS version, these terms are between you and Webgrup, not Apple. The use of the app is also subject to the Apple Standard End User License Agreement (https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/). Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you. Webgrup, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app.
Intellectual Property
The app, its name, design, code and our own texts belong to Webgrup or its licensors, except for third-party data under the licenses above. These terms do not transfer any rights to you except the license above.
Disclaimer of Warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including accuracy, timeliness, fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted operation or error-free results.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Webgrup is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, for loss of data, profits or goodwill, or for any harm, loss or injury arising from a missing, late or wrong notification, from reliance on information in the app, or from the unavailability of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the app, which for a free app is zero. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for intent or gross negligence, or your mandatory consumer rights.
Termination
You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or end access if you breach these terms or the law, or change or stop the service.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. The courts and enforcement offices of Istanbul have jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer protection rules give you the right to use the courts of your place of residence.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. For material changes we will give notice in the app or on this page. If you keep using the app after a change, you accept the updated terms.
